@@@ Razoereater: One Last Nail (FHED, 2021) Today our metal fest continues. I have no idea how long it will last, that probably depends on how much good stuff I find. I get all the metal subgenres confused but this is described as grindcore on the blog Invisible Oranges. It sure is a full on blast of thrashy drumming with a wall of guitar distortion. It’s got some Pig Destroyer feels which is high praise as Pig Destroyer rules in our house. There are a fair amount of sections to this song, it’s not just a full blast of unstructured noise (which I’m also up for). This is a pre-release track and I would listen to more of this when it comes out towards the end of next month.
@@@ Kryptan: Blessed Be the Glue (Self-released, 2021) This is blurbed and slotted as black metal/death metal and it surely has a regal feel to it when the kick drum goes thwackin’ and a big long synth tone-melody floats on top of that aggro rhythm. It breaks out of that into an amped up classic metal chord progression and a singer that is just beyond. Top of the mountain just wailing in a shitstorm of sturm und drang. Lots of power chord riffage and the tune is most notable for that and the singer’s aspirations, almost operatic in scope. Some excellent song titles here such as the opener ‘A Great Step for Whoredom’ and ‘Burn the Priest’ which closes out the record.
