@@@ KeiyaA: Forever Your Girl (Forever Recordings, 2020) I saw this artist profiled in an email from Crack magazine where she is profiled this week. The video clipped below is the first tune and I hear her music as r&b which some chopped jazz feels. The overarching vibe is one of contemplative funk — she layers up a lot of vocal tracks but not in an overly cheesed out manner often encountered in more mainstream efforts. Either that or the pleasant murkiness of the arrangements balance out the sweetness of the vocals. I switched up the videos as this one below is the strongest example of her flow — a looped dark thing underneath and a lot of smushed up vocals over the top, it’s really original and folks should check it out to see it they dig it.
