Music for 10/2/19!!! Amy Shark, Golden Features, Drama

@@@ Amy Shark: Mess her Up (Wonderlick/Sony, 2019)  I saw this musician listed on an Australian music festival lineup email.  Mostly mainstream pop with fingersnaps but guitar based.  Guitars are featured in the verse but it might be synths in the chorus or a combination of synths and guitars.  The lyrics are female empowerment based and they’re not for me.  My personal advice is that folks should not look to music too much for personal guidance.  Shark’s voice is all right and though huge in some places she sounds pretty normal.  I think Shark is inspired by Tay Tay but a step to the side.

@@@ Golden Features: SECT (Warner Australia, 2018)  Off the same music festival announcement this is muscular electronic with a bit of an aggro/industrial feel.  Not a ton but some.  Mr. Features has some vocal synth working on his vocals — I don’t love it, I find it a wee bit distracting.  I don’t want to spend our time arguing over the fine differences between techno rhythms and straight club business but I find the kick-snare kick-snare to be a tad too heavy footed/handed for me and I could use some more interesting beats.  Lots of chainsaw synths so overall it’s a heavy, aggro vibe.

@@@ Drama: Hold On (Ear Jelly, 2019)  I got to this feel good techno bounce house via the Twatter.  Ghostly is all up in the Twatter.  I like the beat, it’s got some funk to it.  This is a tune with singers!  A rarity for the abstract electro crowd.  A nice arpeggiated synth up in here, some mmm, mmm background vocals and a generally mellow vibe.  It’s about the memory of a love affair, you were my favorite, I still hold on.  I dig it, it’s part dancefloor banger and part sweet nostalgic tune.  As always check these tunes for yourself, you might get your own feels and love them!
