@@@ Imagine Dragons: Believer (Interscope, 2017) A single off the Apple Music hot tracks section. It’s got a big frat boy beat a la T. Rex for the 21st century and then goes full arena vocal chorus. The beat and the lyrics are the weak point here. Very cliche. These guys are being described as rockers but I see this as almost genre-less, unless you consider cheese to be a genre. I think cheese is a lifestyle choice not a music genre, but that’s just me.
@@@ Father John Misty: Pure Comedy (Sub Pop, 2017) Father John Misty is an indie darling but he comes out all Elton John and shit on the three tunes from his full length banger that’s coming out soon. Hang on, he’s coming with the full length (phrasing!!). Not only that, but Rocket Man you motherfuckers. Let’s peep more. The second available tune keeps the piano but adds the strummed acoustic guitar which is more like the Misty I remember. But he keeps the full ’70s FM soft rock flow — if this tune was a taco that tortilla would be full of soft, pink, introspective flesh. I’m getting the distinct impression that this is supposed to be a serious work of art for thoughtful Hillary Clinton voters. I’m no Trumpkin lover but I didn’t vote for her neither. The title of this third tune Two Wildly Different Perspectives does not hold much hope for me. I never liked the Elton John and ease up on the artistic pretension yo.
@@@ Mariah Carey: I Don’t (Epic, 2017) I love the Mariah, she’s outta of her mind! I felt bad about her New Year’s Eve fashion fail when her tits popped out and folks got a peep at her well groomed coochie as well. Total accident — she never spills the cleavage! I read VP Mike Pence had to go rub one out after seeing the jiggle. Plus he was all bummed out that the Hamilton people had peed on him when he went to see their play. Sad face:( This tune is a contemporary urban number about love — somebody step up and love the Mariah, she needs it. There a lot of vocals here and it gets a tad crowded but she’s got a nice slunky chord progression going.
