7/11/16: Big Business, Schoolboy Q, David More, Emarosa

@@@ Big Business: Command Your Weather (Joyful Noise, 2016).  Indie off this week’s All Music notable release email.  Opens up ringing bells and a swirling low tone underneath.  Sounds like it should segue into a monster crush but I’m expecting something more indie and wiener-esque.  Oh they came in between with some old school punk flow.  Also a bit of grunge epic-ness here.  Imma gonna peep further as this first tune is a tad tiresome.  This tune sports the same grinding punk and I think I might not be a fan of the singer cuz the band is all right and I don’t feel the tunes when he comes in.

@@@ Schoolboy Q: Blank Face LP (Interscope, 2016).  A gangsta hip hop off the Apple Music front page.  Mr. Q has a softer stance while sending the standard lyrics about gang banging and the ladies and smoking weed.  He sounds a bunch like Busta Rhymes — a little jester-y and a tad off kilter.  I really like the arrangements on the tunes I’ve heard thus far.  The third tune which features mogul Kanye West who took time out from pushing rope into Kim K’s booty and I feel like it lags and goes on a bit (no, not Kanye!) but the fourth tune, the title track re-ups the energy and gets back into some really hot sounds and the criminal situations.  I’ve clipped the tune I enjoyed most down below for your earholes.

@@@ David More: Passion, Soul, and Fire (Edgard Avakian, 2016).  Some strong Stevie Ray Vaughan influenced electric blues that I got to via the Indiepulse music blog.  More’s voice is gravelly and pleasant and his guitar tone is a bit less overdriven than Vaughan’s but he’s got the same rhythmic energy.  I like it all right but I will stick my Stevie Ray Vaughan records.

@@@ Emarosa: 131 (Hopeless, 2016)  Some super dramatical post hardcore off the Apple Music new albums section.  Big big layers of vocals, manicured hard rock production.  The singer is panting and there are just too many feelings, or shall I say signifiers of feelings cuz I don’t feel much when I hear this level of cliche.
