Honorable Mention 2016 Pick 4

Freakwater: Scheherazade (Bloodshot, 2016).

The main draw of this weird folk/vintage hippie rock is the singing.  Two female singers, experienced and very relaxed.  Not autotuned just letting it out.  Everything is loose here and it’s quite enjoyable — the playing, the singing, the lyrics vacillate between surreal and sorta traditional.

They rock a medium sized range of related styles — string music, folk, and Neil Young 1970’s hippie rock (the tune below).  And combos thereof.  The only videos available for passing on to listeners are the soft hippie rock ones but I enjoy the dirgier folk tunes.  But Imma gone clip the clips available and wish you well.
