@@@ Khotin: Baikal Acid EP (1080p, 2016). Nerdy techno unt-sss off the CFUV weekly email. Somebody busted out the super old school drum machine and layered on the chimey synth patches and nerdy funk synth bass lines. This is the kind of music Monica Lewinsky blew Bill Clinton to in the White House and I’m not slut shaming her. The second tune is a remix of the first one which is weird and the third continues the funky video game motif with some way synths to go with your pong bass and yer four on the floor.
@@@ Illa J: Illa J (Bastard Jazz, 2015). Some left field hip hop off the CFUV weekly playlist email. Opens up with some tight, minimalist beats, abstract oscillating synths and an odd chopped rhythmic flow on the microphone. I like this first tune (clipped below), let’s check out more. The second tune takes on more of a smooth r&b vibe with a organ vamp, a little fusion guitar, drum machine finger snaps. It’s a little too smooth for my taste but it’s well done.
@@@ Moss Lime: Zoo De Quebec (Telephone Explosion, 2015) Some super simple indie with a female singer that sounds like Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth but in a mellow way and in French. Off this week’s CFUV weekly playlist email. Or maybe Yo La Tengo on Purple Drank. Good indie to start the junior high schoolers on.
