@@@ Carter Tutti Void: f(x) (Copyright Control, 2015). A record off an Aquarius Records employee Top 10 of 2015. Opens up with a kick drum pulse and some very minimalist and ascetic electro garnish. Oh he’s building a fire here, a synth wail and some cricket action and a sort of pumping bass sound. It’s like when you go to a fancy restaurant and they don’t give you a ton of food, but what they give you is exquisitely arranged. Oooh, of nice long dub delay voices, thing are getting a little sic-fi and bubbling. There are six pieces on this record and the shortest one is 7:30 long, so the pace is slow. He’s got a nice blend of ambient and industrial sounds, this third tune F = (2.2) has a pretty dope salad of metallic sounds, clicks, and whirs going on. This is what the streets will sound like if that fascist fucker Ted Cruz gets elected — dark, evil, and throbbing. Good music for a dominatrix related business.
@@@ Pissgrave: Suicide Euphoria (Profound Lore, 2015). Off the same Aquarius Records employee’s Top 10 of 2015. Oh my, this is some hammer drill metal with needly sounding guitars and a singer that sounds like the microphone is in his throat. The first tune is called Perpetual War and it doesn’t take a genius to sense they’re pretty pissed about something related to Perpetual War. This is some pretty rough business — a wall of guitar noise, a thrashing pounding drummer and the grunting distress of the singer. I appreciate the energy of this — it’s a very committed blast of anti-social noise and there’s a real honesty and beauty to that.
@@@ Jai Wolf: Indian Summer (Foreign Family Collective, 2016). An New Age electro banger with a pitched really high voice part over a bed of standard synthesizers and skittery, mainstream club beat. Finger snaps, whirling wind patches, oh man it’s a sonic buffet of cheese flavored snack bits.
