@@@ Dead Moon: Dead Moon, Live at Satyricon (Voodoo Doughnut, 2015). Off this Aquarius Records’ weekly email which real music fans should sign up for. I would consider these guys a lo fi, methed out version of AC/DC — big guitar growl and a growling singer, actually a male and a female singer but all filtered through dirt. Splashy drums and a loos live record feel to the tunes. I like it without loving it, but check it for yourself.
@@@ Slum Village: Yes! (Ne’ Astra, 2015). Off the Beats Highlights page with beats mostly done by J Dilla. To my ears these sound like ’90s era beats and sparse arrangements and the MCs have a bit of a Wu-ey feel but with a bit more consciousness and lots of guest MCs. Super funky bass line in the fourth tune, Expressive and this is the second tune that is focused on booty.
