@@@ ST 37: I’m Not Good (Cleopatra Records, 2014). Off the fantastic California independent radio station KFJC. These guys are from Texas, they formed in 1987 and I’ve never heard of these legendary psych musicians. The first tune’s intro was a long cricket like sound so I skipped to the second track, which is psychedelic and lonesome and not psychedelic and tooth grinding. A tad of Meat Puppet’s stoned Southwest thing. Pretty stylish. Long, slow moving tunes with lots of ambient guitar.
These guys are super under the radar as far as an online presence which is awesome and there’s a live clip from a couple months ago.
@@@ Ambrosia Parsley: Weeping Cherry (Barbes, 2015). From a music publicist email and I’m checking this out because Barbes is a cool club here in Brooklyn. Upright bass, slow/sultry female vocals and some super delayed electronic elements in the upper register. Harmonic ear candy. Some old school r&b doowop background vocals tucked back in there. Spacious.
You can stream here.
@@@ Monarchy: Falling In Love With a Memory (Hacan Sound, 2015) Some synth goodness I got to from a music publicist email. Well executed vocals but there’s a strange weird synth squirrel that I find disconcerting. Maybe you all will love it.
