@@@ Nic Hessler: I Feel Again (Captured Tracks, 2015). A tune from an upcoming record-soon to be released. Yikers, so 1980’s it makes my teeth hurt. Big, gated snare, a dance rock beat, a blend of electric and acoustic guitars and a fudgy sweet vocal. Who decided it was a great idea to bring this musical style back? Whoever it was needs to be waterboarded. Nothing against Mr. Hessler and his cotton candy rock. Check it for yourself and maybe it works for you. I don’t know why it would be I’m working on seeing the perspective of others.
@@@ Butch Walker: Afraid of Ghosts (Dangerbird, 2015). Off this week’s All Music weekly email. Opens up with the title track, Afraid of Ghosts — some minimalist acoustic guitar, some piano tucked behind that and a down on your luck male voice. Nice drum sound when it comes in. The second tune, I Love You, has an undercover Peter Gabriel chord progression. A little alt-country, a little soft rock. Sweet and sad, more sweet than sad.
@@@ Panic is Perfect: Bobbly Black (Not sure, 2015). A super smooth 1970’s soft rock nugget I got to via a music publicist email. Nice vocal hook, a little backwards guitar in the break and you could use this tune as a pillow.
