Kendl Winter and the Summer Gold: It Can Be Done (K Records, 2013)
The main draw here is Winter’s voice — it’s a little pretty, a little quirky, and pretty soulful with a tad of yodel in it. After that I dig the guitar replacing banjo as the lead melodic instrument and when they play indie tunes with banjo pickin’ lead and her signing it’s a pretty cool musical formula.
This is much more of an indie record with a banjo player than it is an alt-country record with some indie/punk leanings.
There’s some really good tunes and playing on this record so check it out.
