@@@ Fort Lean: Cut to the Chase (Ooh La La, 2014) If you took Jeff Tweedy and you cut him into small cubes of Tweedy and you took the fleshiest part of him, maybe his ass, and you fried it in butter and sugar and then grated it some parmesan cheese on that plateful of buttery, sweet Tweedy ass, it would sound like this tune.
@@@ Coffinworm IV.I.VII (Profound Lore, 2014). Off a holiday heavy metal mailorder email. And to be honest I could use a shot of metal after that brief discussion of fried Wilco ass. I wouldn’t eat it, mind you, but I did type it. Oh, the horror. This one starts out with a suffocating thrash whoopass tune called Sympathectomy. I would peg this band a part post hardcore, a 1/2 cup of thrash, and a bit of shred. The singer spends a bit of time in Neanderthal land, but rises up and spews some upper register hate and frustration at points. This drummer is not fucking around and I hear a variety of guitar sounds coming out of the guitar player. This is some shit for the holidays if you believe in Santa comin’ down the chimney with the sickle of death to Grim Reaper your ass.
@@@ Panic is Perfect: Behind Your Eyelids (Not sure, 2014). Some extremely professional mainstream pop rock. It’s a bowl of sonic macaroni and cheese. It’s the holiday season so I’m gonna keep it brief here. This music has nothing to do with the expression of anything emotional or meangingful, it’s a product.
