@@@ Run the Jewels: Run the Jewels 2 (Mass Appeal, 2014). Off the CFUV weekly email. Oh my, this is an electronica/hip hop record with an MC that seems like he’s all up in the purple drank, i.e. super strong cough syrup. He’s got quite an impressive potty mouth and he seems incredibly horny. Porn-y horny. Big booty bass lines, I like that, beats solid without blowing em out. I don’t hate it, but I’m not feeling Mr. Jewels.
@@@ Viathyn: Cynosure (Self-released, 2014). The #1 record in the loud section of the CFUV wekely email but it’s opening up super orchestral, oh here comes the thrash. Big octopus, tom spraying drummer, some super speedy guitar shredding with a strings arrangement in the thrash section. Will wonders never cease? This is the white winged horse of epic classical/opera metal. I like my metal not quite Satanic, but not so operatic. If you’re in the mood for some dramatical metal, well then….
@@@ Gazelle Twin: Unflesh (Last Gang, 2014). In the electronic section of the CFUV weekly email, Unflesh sounds like a metal record title, but this looks like it’s gonna be that ‘punishing’ (read as repetitive) style of electronica. Processed vocals, simple somewhat unfunky beats schooled in an old school style. It’s sounds a little like an early Prince record without the melody or the hooks. Just the sounds of a Prince record wiggling around in a spaghetti strainer.
@@@ Steph Cameron: Sad Eyed Lonesome Lady (Pheromone Recordings, 2014). An acoustic blues/folk record by a woman with a mean right hand on her guitar and a very pretty, somewhat uplifting tone to her voice. She’s got it going on with the guitar, and I don’t dislike her singing, I just like her guitar playing more.
